F.A.Q

How can I get from Bordeaux to Arcachon?

The easiest way to get from Bordeaux to Arcachon is by car or by train. However, once there, getting around can be challenging, especially if you want to visit the Dune du Pilat. This tour is perfect for you as we will guide you through the city center of Arcachon and the winter town, and take you to the Pilat Sand Dune at the best time of the day.

What are the sights and activities in Arcachon?

Arcachon is a charming small resort town on the Bay of Arcachon. Many families from Bordeaux visit on weekends to enjoy the sandy beaches and mild climate. If you’re not interested in oyster tasting or climbing the Pilat Sand Dune, ask your guide to show you around Arcachon.

One of the most interesting parts of Arcachon is the Winter Town. Overlooking the town and the Bay, this district features over 300 villas built in the 19th century, showcasing a variety of extravagant architectural styles.

Another great activity in Arcachon is walking along the Promenade facing the Bay, then exploring the town itself and shopping for local souvenirs. Arcachon is also known for its great arts and crafts shops, perfect for finding authentic gifts.

Are the tours suitable for children/babies?

Children over 12 years old are welcome on our private tours only. Babies cannot be seated on their parents' laps for safety reasons, please ask for a baby chair when booking. Some tours, like the tasting workshop and the wine days tour, are not suitable for children or people under 18.

Who conducts this private tour from Bordeaux to Arcachon?

This private tour is conducted by one of our local guides who speaks impeccable English.

How difficult is it to climb the Pilat Sand Dune?

From April to November, a special staircase is installed to make the top of the Dune accessible. However, climbing the 170 steps can be strenuous, especially on hot, sunny days. This activity is not recommended for those with walking difficulties. Good walking shoes are advised.

What is a Pinasse Boat and how long is the tour?

A Pinasse is a traditional fishing boat used on the Bay of Arcachon for both fishing and oyster farming. Today, many Pinasse boats are renovated for sightseeing tours on the Bay of Arcachon, accommodating 2 to 12/15 people depending on the boat size.
